Effara Privacy Policy

Summary

Effara is built to keep a child's communication private. The app does not use accounts, analytics, ads, tracking, or an Effara server. What a child says with Effara stays on the family's device.

Data Effara Stores On Device

Effara may store the following inside the app container on the family's device:

• Board and button settings
• Custom button labels
• Photos a parent or caregiver chooses for custom buttons
• Voice recordings a parent, sibling, or caregiver records for custom buttons
• App settings, such as selected voice, tile size, and adult-lock passcode

This data is used only to make the app work. Effara does not send it to us and does not sell or share it.

Microphone And Photos

Effara asks for microphone access only when an adult intentionally records a voice for a custom button. Effara uses the photo picker only when an adult chooses a photo for a custom button.

Photos and recordings selected or created in Effara are stored locally on the device. They are not uploaded to Effara.

Tracking And Analytics

Effara does not track users across apps or websites. Effara does not include third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, behavioral tracking, or marketing pixels.

Third Parties

The Effara app does not include third-party SDKs and does not send child communication data to Effara or to third-party services.

If a family uses TestFlight, the App Store, iCloud, device backups, or other Apple services, those services are governed by Apple's terms and privacy policies. During TestFlight testing, Apple may provide crash reports, screenshots, or written feedback that a tester chooses to submit through TestFlight. Effara receives only the information Apple makes available to the developer through those systems or information a tester sends directly by email.

TestFlight Feedback

TestFlight feedback is optional. Families should not include sensitive child communication, photos, or recordings in written feedback or screenshots unless they intentionally choose to share them.

Backups

Effara data may be included in the family's normal device backups, depending on their Apple device and iCloud settings. Effara does not control those backups.

Retention And Deletion

Effara stores app data on the family's device until the family changes it or deletes it. Because Effara has no account system, server, or remote copy of child communication data, Effara cannot remotely view, export, or delete that on-device data.

Families can delete custom buttons, photos, or recordings inside the app where editing is available. They can delete all local Effara data by deleting the app from the device. They can manage microphone and photo permissions in iPadOS Settings.

Children's Privacy

Effara is designed for children and families, including nonspeaking autistic children. The app does not ask children for contact information and does not create user profiles.

Changes To This Policy

If Effara's data practices change, this policy will be updated before those changes are released.
